Yogurt is a GREAT treat that can benefit your dog’s health. Givingyour furry friend plain yogurt has been proven to prevent or help with digestive issues. Additionally, it helps puppies, pregnant mothers, and the elderly dog by preventing infection and adding protein and calcium to their growing bones. So next time you’re eating yogurt, consider sharing with yourbest friend.



If you decide to give your dog yogurt, give him plain, nonfat and unflavored yogurt. The yogurt should contain only two things: milk and live cultures. NO yogurt containing sugar and artificial flavors, there is no  benefit.  If you would like to add flavor for your pooch, do it naturally by adding fresh friut to it yourself. Befor buying yogurt read the lable carefully.  Remember that frozen yogurt is a great treat for your best dog.




There are many reasons to give your dog yogurt. Yogurt a source of calcium and zinc, it can boost their immunity. The biggest advantage to giving your dog yogurt is to help with their digestion. If your dog has gastrointestinal problems such as diarrhea, infections, inflamed bowel, bacterial overgrowth or other absorption issues, yogurt may both help and prevent these issues. Yogurt is a good source of protein.



When, How and How Much

Start giving your dog yogurt as soon as possible. You can give your dog a spoonful daily as a measure of prevention or wait until there is a digestive issue.You can mix yogurt into their food or let them lick off a spoon. Nonfat plain yogurt is low in calories, no worring weight gaining. Frozen yogurt as a great treat. Give your dog yogurt, when they are on antibiotics. One of the side effects of antibiotics is disrupt the gastrointestinal tract, yogurt will help keep the balance while on it.



Other Food for Dogs for Digestion

Other foods  that can benefit your dog include salmon, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, eggs, berries and oatmeal. Pumpkin or oatmeal has fiber and it helps bulk up stools. If your dog has diarrhea, you can give him eggs to add protein he may have lost.
